CRN 70m thunderball launch
Ancona, June 4, 2026

CRN recently celebrated the launch of its stunning full-custom steel and aluminium displacement superyacht, Project Thunderball, at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona. This momentous occasion was marked by a heartfelt private ceremony attended by the owners and their family, as the vessel gracefully touched the water for the first time.

Measuring an impressive 70 metres, Project Thunderball represents a true collaboration between CRN and renowned design studios, incorporating CRN's in-depth knowledge in naval architecture, engineering, and the creation of tailor-made metal yachts. The exterior design and preliminary naval architecture were crafted by the Dutch studio Vripack, while the Italian firm Nauta took charge of the interiors and outdoor living spaces, ensuring a perfect balance of comfort and flow.

Y.CO served as the owner’s representative and project management team, providing valuable technical insight and rigorous oversight throughout the entire construction process. Their meticulous attention to detail ranged from inspection and acceptance phases to managing third-party suppliers, ensuring a seamless experience.

This remarkable vessel boasts a gross tonnage of 1,100 GT and a beam of 11 metres, allowing for spacious accommodations across four decks. She can host up to 12 guests in the owner's suite and five VIP cabins, along with quarters for 15 crew members in nine dedicated cabins.

Project Thunderball exemplifies CRN's commitment to bespoke craftsmanship, seamlessly integrating advanced engineering and energy efficiency while meeting the highest standards of international yacht design. The result is a magnificent yacht that beautifully fuses design, technology, and refined detailing into a timeless masterpiece.

The yacht’s silhouette is marked by a classic long bow, sleek profile, and graceful lines inspired by sailing vessels, enhanced by gentle curves and a flawless surface. The interior design transcends current trends, capturing a deep connection to maritime culture. It features a refined blend of timeless elements, merging tradition with a modern sensibility, all while ensuring that every decision—down to materials and technical specifications—reflects the unique vision of her owner and a thoughtful balance between form and function.

Additionally, Thunderball is equipped with an innovative Energy Storage System, designed to optimise onboard energy management based on operational needs. This system allows for peak shaving and silent operation at anchor, significantly reducing fuel consumption.

Ultimately, Thunderball is a singular, fully custom superyacht, a reflection of her owner’s distinctive essence and a testament to exceptional craftsmanship.

A NEW CONSTRUCTION STEP AT FERRETTI GROUP SUPERYACHT YARD IN ANCONA

A new construction phase begins with a spectacular relocation of the hull

70m CRN MY 145Project Thunderball
Ancona, May 29, 2024

Through its in-depth expertise and accomplished skill, CRN carries on the construction phases of a new fully custom vessel: the CRN M/Y 145-Project Thunderball, a 70-metre steel and aluminium superyacht, a totally bespoke design, engineering and handcrafted build.

The hull has now been transported by sea on a barge to the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona and immediately after the arrival a full hull 3D scan happened. After the preparatory works, the artisans’ expert hands will take care of the carpentry, the fitting-out, the machinery, the on-board systems and equipment, before the installation of the furniture. The hull exterior will also be meticulously primed and painted. The numerous production stages proceed in parallel and in staggered fashion in the various sections of the hull through a process of perfect symbiosis, like instruments in a symphony orchestra building to a crescendo – the completion of the piece.

For the construction of this yacht, the best craftsmen, artisans and skilled workers are involved, both from the shipyard and from outside, aligned to make the owner's vision a reality while adhering to the highest quality standards.

This new megayacht with its classic, timeless line and a striking sense of style that fully reflects her owner’s vision and requirements for a pleasure ship suited to long, pleasurable, contemplative cruises and as the perfect support vessel for sailing regattas.

The CRN M/Y 145-Project Thunderball combines CRN’s design and build quality and know-how with the experience of the architecture studio Vripack - which developed the external lines and the naval architecture together with the Ferretti Group Superyachts Division Engineering team - and the creativity of the Nauta Design studio - for the interior design and outdoor furniture.

The leading brokerage and management company Y.CO, who plays a key role as Owner’s representatives and project management team, continues in its work in supporting the Owner through the construction stage to the technical checks, inspection and acceptance as well as with the project management, the on-site supervision and supporting coordination of the external contractors.

The megayacht will have 5 decks, a length overall of 70 metres with a beam of 11 metres and 1,100 GT, accommodating up to 12 guests and 15 crew in exceptional comfort.

CRN M/Y 145 is a vessel with a traditional elongated bow, a low profile and svelte lines like a sailboat, with curved bilges and a smooth surface. The entire design has been carefully devised for highly efficient cruising and comfortable, convenient manoeuvring. Interior Design concept goes beyond time and fashion. It expresses a culture of the sea, a sophisticated collection of details, a combination of heritage blended with a refined contemporary look, fully reinterpreting them from the latest lifestyle point of view.

With the CRN M/Y 145, the shipyard continues to work towards conscious yacht design, entailing first and foremost the development of energy recovery solutions and proper sizing of the ship’s equipment. This totally bespoke megayacht is therefore fitted with a peak shaving system to increase energy efficiency and slash fuel consumption.

It will be ready for launch in 2026.

Besides the CRN M/Y 145, CRN is currently building another three full-custom superyachts: 67m CRN M/Y 143 Project Maranello, 85m CRN M/Y 144 and 67m CRN M/Y PROJECT 146.

CRN new fullcustom 70metre Image 2

Ancona, 4th September, 2023

A new creation, unique and exceptional, is taking shape at CRN. The M/Y 145 Project Thunderball. This 70-metre steel and aluminium superyacht is completely bespoke and handcrafted in her design, naval architecture, engineering and her construction.

The CRN M/Y 145 combines the CRN shipyard’s design-and-build quality and know-how with the experience of Vripack - which developed the external lines and the naval architecture - and the creativity of the Nauta Design studio, for the interior design and outdoor furniture.

The brokers Y.CO completed the sale in August 2022 and are playing a key role as the Owner’s representative and project management team, supporting the Owner through the construction stage to the technical checks, inspection and acceptance as well as with the project management, the on-site supervision and coordinating the external contractors.

This new yacht, with her classic, timeless line, has a striking sense of style that fully reflects the owner’s vision and requirements for a pleasure ship suited to long, pleasurable, contemplative cruises.

This is a vessel with a traditional elongated bow, a low profile and svelte lines like a sailboat, with curved bilges and a smooth surface. The entire design has been carefully devised for highly efficient cruising and comfortable, convenient manoeuvring. The owner is a passionate sailor, so a smaller sailboat will also be delivered to accompany the mother yacht. The superyacht will cruise in the Mediterranean and between Florida and the Bahamas, to be used as a base for diving, sailing and underwater fishing.

The CRN M/Y 145 spans 5 decks and is 70 metres long with a beam of 11 metres and a gross tonnage of 1,100, accommodating up to 12 guests and 15 crew.

Thunderball Interior Design concept goes beyond time and fashion. It expresses a culture of the sea, a sophisticated collection of details, a combination of heritage blended with a refined contemporary look, fully reinterpreting them from the latest lifestyle point of view. The marine approach and high-end craftsmanship come together to define a new state of the art in yachting.

The CRN M/Y 145 continues the shipyard’s sustainability commitment through the use of a peak shaving system to increase energy efficiency and slash fuel consumption.

Besides the 70-metre CRN M/Y 145, Ferretti Group’s multi-brand Superyacht Yard in Ancona – an almost 80,000-sqm facility – is also currently constructing another three full-custom CRN yachts, namely the 72-metre CRN M/Y 139, the 67-metre CRN M/Y 143 and the 85-metre CRN M/Y 144. It is also building the first all-aluminium Custom Line Navetta 50, the all-aluminium Pershing 140#04, plus the all-aluminium Riva Superyacht Division 54-metre. The entire Custom Line fibreglass range is built here, with 27 yachts now under construction in the sheds and at the quays for finishing, testing and delivery to their respective owners and their project teams.
