The latest iteration of the Ferretti Yachts 720 made a splash with its world debut at boot Düsseldorf, showcasing a cruising experience that embodies the essence of the “Just Like Home” philosophy.
Measuring an impressive 22.5 m (73 ft 10 in) in length and boasting a maximum beam of 5.60 m (18 ft 4 in), this yacht is the product of a harmonious collaboration between the Product Strategy Committee—led by Piero Ferrari—and the skilled engineers at the Ferretti Group.
Reflecting the brand’s evolutionary trajectory, the design retains the signature elements of its predecessor while introducing distinctive features. Collaborations with architect Filippo Salvetti for the exterior aesthetics and IdeaeItalia for the interiors have resulted in spaces that are not only spacious and well-lit but also ingeniously functional.
Significant enhancements spotlight onboard comfort, with optimized layouts that bridge the gap to larger yachts, a noteworthy increase in storage solutions, and a range of technical improvements aimed at elevating performance, efficiency, and safety on the water.
From a design standpoint, the Ferretti Yachts 720 displays a refined profile, featuring a fresh interpretation of the gunwale and expansive glazing in both the lounge and master cabin. This thoughtful design enhances the seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces while flooding the interior with natural light. Additionally, the newly designed hard top extends the available shaded areas, offering a retreat from the sun.
The IdeaeItalia team has meticulously refined the proportions and spatial relations within the yacht, enhancing the visual harmony with the outdoors and fostering an inviting atmosphere characterized by conviviality and informality. The selected materials radiate elegance and warmth, striking a perfect balance among the carefully curated colour palette.
MAIN DECK
As you step onto the main deck from the transom, your attention is immediately drawn to a sea-facing fold-out sofa, which can be an attractive optional feature. Just beyond, two staircases lead you to a spacious cockpit, where a stylish outdoor dining area promises an unparalleled al fresco experience.
Accessing the salon is a breeze thanks to a thoughtfully designed glass door system. It features a hinged panel on the left, operable even while underway, alongside two sliding panels on the right. This clever design creates a seamless transition between the interior and exterior spaces, enhancing the overall flow of the yacht.
Inside the salon, you are greeted by two generously sized sofas, dressed in luxurious Zimmer + Rohde fabrics and equipped with built-in storage compartments reminiscent of larger vessels, ensuring that comfort is never compromised. To elevate the atmosphere further, one might consider the addition of a Bonaldo coffee table. A concealed TV cleverly positioned behind the right sofa adds a touch of sophistication, providing entertainment in a discreet manner.
For those with discerning tastes, two distinct interior decor styles are available. The Classic mood embraces earthy tones, while the Contemporary option showcases vibrant woods and fabrics inspired by the colors of the sea. True to Italian craftsmanship, both designs create an elegant, inviting, and harmonious ambiance.
Traveling to the boat's central section, the dining area on the port side caters comfortably to up to eight guests around a refined table, with an opposing storage unit that merges style with functionality, perfect for enjoying convivial moments in gracious comfort.
An exciting innovation along the main deck is the clear demarcation between the dining/living area and the galley/wheelhouse. This modern layout features a sliding glass door, and an optional electrically operated hi-lo glass panel offers convenient access to the galley. This design promotes a semi-enclosed environment, enhancing onboard privacy and comfort.
The galley, designed by Ernestomeda, boasts a convenient exit onto the port side walkway, allowing crew members to navigate the space easily without intruding on the primary living areas.
In the wheelhouse, notable advancements include a windscreen free of a central pillar, which offers exceptional visibility—a hallmark of this brand. Additionally, the instrument panel can accommodate up to four 16-inch displays, while new Poltrona Frau pilot chairs enhance both style and comfort. The glazing is equipped with infrared (IR) protective films that effectively reduce solar radiation, contributing to more efficient air conditioning. Finally, the electronics within the wheelhouse have been upgraded to ensure increased responsiveness, solidifying this vessel's dedication to innovative maritime technology.
The flybridge of the Ferretti Yachts 720 is elegantly sheltered by a striking two-tone hard top, offering buyers the choice of tilting louvres—as featured on the premier model—or a sleek fixed glass cover. This design ensures optimal protection under varying lighting conditions, creating a comfortable space for relaxation and entertaining.
Engines, Propulsion, and Technical Specifications
The Ferretti Yachts 720 delivers impressive performance options, featuring the standard configuration with two powerful 1200 HP MAN V8 engines, achieving top speeds of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 24 knots. For those seeking enhanced power, the optional upgrade includes two robust 1400 HP MAN V12 engines, offering top speeds up to 32 knots and a cruising pace of 28 knots—impressive figures that reflect preliminary data.
Safety and reliability while at anchor have not been overlooked. The yacht now boasts an updated mooring system that combines traditional large-size double anchors with improved chains, significantly enhancing both security and performance.
Additionally, the 720 ensures a superior cruising experience with its refined trim capabilities, thanks to the integration of newly responsive trim tabs and the innovative Seakeeper gyroscopic stabiliser.
Additional installation options include the NG10 system and the WATCHIT Antigrounding System, which Ferretti Yachts has utiliSed for collision avoidance since 2022.
