The CRN M/Y 145 Project Thunderball
An extraordinary 70-metre full-custom superyacht crafted from steel and aluminium, is poised to enter the final stages of its intricate construction process. This vessel stands as a testament to innovation and state-of-the-art technology, merging masterful naval engineering with exceptional craftsmanship. Project Thunderball is not just another superyacht; it epitomises sophisticated design where each interior space is meticulously crafted around the concept of functional aesthetics, celebrating beauty in every detail. The creation of the 70m CRN M/Y Project Thunderball is the result of a powerful collaboration between CRN and the Ferretti Group’s Superyacht Division, complemented by the expertise of the renowned Dutch design studio, Vripack Yacht Design. This team has been responsible for the exterior lines, preliminary naval architecture, and the general plans, while the creative vision for the interiors and outdoor social spaces has emerged from the illustrious Nauta Design.
Throughout the design phase, CRN has taken the helm of engineering, finalising the naval architecture and general arrangements, as well as guiding the project to its successful delivery. Y.CO has played a crucial role as the Owner’s representative and project management team, lending their technical expertise and ensuring meticulous oversight throughout the construction journey. Collaborating closely with the shipyard, Y.CO has adeptly coordinated third-party suppliers, managed inspections, and supervised acceptance processes. This diligent approach has guaranteed that every aspect of the project aligns seamlessly with the Owner’s vision, all while adhering to the highest standards of excellence.
The superyacht features an impressive five decks, stretching 70 meters in length, with a beam of 11 meters and a gross tonnage of 1,100 GT. She offers luxurious accommodations for 12 guests, including an owner's suite and five VIP cabins, alongside room for 15 crew members in nine exceptionally comfortable cabins. Notably, she is equipped with a cutting-edge Energy Storage System, meticulously engineered to optimize onboard energy flow according to planned operations. This system enhances efficiency through peak shaving and enables silent operations while anchored, significantly reducing fuel consumption. In terms of performance, the CRN M/Y 145 is powered by robust MAN V12-1213kW engines, propelling the yacht to a top speed of 15.5 knots and allowing for a comfortable cruising speed of 12 knots.
Iconic Project
This project promises to be iconic, exemplifying the seamless blend of design, technology, and intricate detailing, all while embodying a timeless elegance. The expectations surrounding quality and finishing are exceptionally high. With a wealth of expertise in design and detail, the shipyard and Nauta have prioritised a concurrent focus on both the overarching architectural framework and the finer details. This holistic approach ensures that the interiors reflect a harmonious balance of elegance, technical prowess, and refined precision, where creativity meets practicality. Each space is thoughtfully curated, maintaining its own character while contributing to a cohesive overall aesthetic. The careful selection of various shapes and materials, each with its distinct variations, adds depth to the design.
From material selection to the engineering of systems and technical parameters, every decision is guided by a bespoke vision and a continuous dialogue between form and function. The interiors feature a rich palette of natural materials—stone, leather, wood, metal, and textiles—meticulously chosen and crafted with precision and care. Nauta's involvement extends throughout the entire production chain, ensuring a commitment to quality from raw materials like marble slabs to veneers and beyond. The construction process reflects a collaborative effort with skilled artisans, suppliers, and experts, celebrating a tailored approach in every element.
Strking Hallmark
A striking hallmark of this yacht is the seamless continuity between interior and exterior designs. The geometries and proportions echo one another, fostering a unifying flow that creates a distinctly recognisable path. Patterns are thoughtfully reinterpreted across varying scales, materials, and functions, achieving a harmonious balance between diversity and consistent design language.
Light, Art, and Integrated Technology Lighting stands as a pivotal element in the design of spaces. The interplay between bespoke lighting fixtures and meticulous technical studies crafts an array of experiences aboard, allowing materials and forms to truly shine. These lighting sources are thoughtfully designed, often seamlessly integrated or transformed into distinct features, all selected to enhance spatial dynamics and accentuate details, furnishings, and artworks, ultimately fostering an intimate yet refined atmosphere. Similarly, the incorporation of technology adheres to this philosophy. The onboard systems, while cutting-edge, maintain a sense of discretion through concealed components or aesthetic enhancements. Innovation here is not flagrant; instead, it reveals itself in the superior quality of the final outcome.
Yacht Construction Progress
Progress on the Construction of the Yacht Construction is progressing smoothly at the shipyard. Exterior work aligns well with the established timeline, while interior installations are advancing across all decks—beginning with the lower deck, then moving up to the main deck, bridge deck, and sun deck. The expertise of CRN in design, engineering, and yacht construction, combined with the creative prowess of Vripack Yacht Design and Nauta, reflects the team's commitment to understanding and adapting every detail to meet the owner’s unique vision. This dedication epitomises the brand's true essence: an authentic culture of bespoke customisation. Such commitment is not only evident in the remarkable yachts crafted by CRN but also in the rigorous processes and personalised experiences that characterise each interaction with owners.
Every facet of the brand identity embodies a devotion to customisation and the highest standards of quality.
The anticipated launch is set for spring 2026.
